One Week Later: How to Help Texas Flood Victims
July 11, 2025
It’s been a week since severe flooding devastated parts of Texas, and the effects are still being felt across the region. Lives have been lost, families have been displaced, homes and businesses destroyed, and entire communities left to rebuild from the ground up.
At The Writers For Hire, we’ve been heartbroken watching the destruction unfold — and we’ve also been moved by the strength and generosity of those coming together to help.
In times like these, even the smallest acts of support can go a long way. If you’re looking for a way to assist flood victims, we’ve compiled a list of trusted organizations doing important work on the ground.
Whether you want to provide meals, shelter, animal rescue, or community aid, there’s a way to give that fits your heart.
Here are some of the organizations accepting donations:
GoFundMe Verified Fundraisers
GoFundMe has created a special page for verified fundraisers related to the Texas floods. This means each campaign has been reviewed to ensure it’s legitimate, giving you peace of mind that your donation will actually help the people who need it most—families trying to rebuild their lives.

World Central Kitchen
Founded by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen is known for providing hot, nourishing meals to communities in crisis. Their teams are often among the first on the ground in natural disasters, and they’ve been active in Texas delivering fresh meals to displaced residents and first responders.

Mercy Chefs
Another food-focused nonprofit, Mercy Chefs deploys mobile kitchens and volunteers to disaster zones to serve chef-prepared meals. They’re committed to feeding body and soul with dignity, and they’re currently operating in Texas to support flood-affected areas.

As floodwaters rose, many pets were separated from their families or left without care. Kerrville Pets Alive is helping rescue, shelter, and reunite animals impacted by the disaster in the Hill Country. They’re also providing critical supplies and support to pet owners in need.

Cajun Navy
This grassroots group of volunteers — many of whom are experienced boaters — has become legendary for jumping in during floods to rescue stranded families. The Cajun Navy is assisting with evacuations, delivering supplies, and offering hands-on help to flood victims throughout Texas.

Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country
This regional foundation is focused on local recovery, offering grants and support to communities hit hardest by the flooding. One of our own writers at The Writers For Hire, Barbara Adams, is donating handmade quilts to displaced pets through this organization — a beautiful reminder of the personal acts of kindness that make all the difference.

Even a small donation can mean a second chance for someone who’s lost everything.
As Texans continue to face the challenges of rebuilding, please join us in standing with them in whatever way we can — through donations, sharing resources, or just spreading the word.
From all of us at The Writers For Hire, thank you for your compassion and generosity.
